LONGWOOD GARDENS
In the fall of 2017 we were hired as a subcontractor for Penn Trails. This project took us to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania to improve the sustainability of the Meadow Trails, by realigning the trail, and adding new surfacing materials.

CLARKE HOMESTEAD
The owner of a two hundred year old home in Milton NY tasked our firm to protect the existing stonewall lined driveway. A stream and waterfall on the property had taken its toll on the supporting banks. By pouring a concrete retaining wall and securing it to the bedrock we were able to build a dry laid stone wall, in keeping with the aesthetic and historical character of the property.

LOCUST GROVE FARMS
The Kent family has been farming in Marlboro for almost two centuries. In 2017 the decision was made to make some changes for their future farming needs. Site work and a concrete foundation for an engineered post and beam barn were the start for this project. Entranceway, driveway and parking area with decorative walls and boulders completed the landscaping at this orchard shop and self pick farm. A farm road and walkway were created to give access to the new man made pond. This pond was needed for both irrigation and recreational purposes. Head walls were built using locally harvested stone and boulders to create a sustainable and natural picnic area.

DANSKAMMER HOUSE (bed & breakfast) In April 2016 began the renovations and reconstruction of a village house in Marlboro NY to become a Bed & Breakfast, the Danskammer House. The owners Linda and Ken had an ambitious plan to restore the building and create outdoor garden and living spaces for their guests. Structural work to the foundation included new concrete, a new access, stone foundation repair. Site work included a new driveway and parking area. In January of 2017 natural and manufactured stone were combined in the hardscaping project which included retaining walls, sunken patio, stairways and a fire pit. As stated earlier this was an ambitious vision and is still evolving. Check back often for updates on this project.

SHED PADS
Shed pads can be small, large, concrete, rock or crushed stone. Whatever your needs or vision we can create the appropriate footprint for your shed or prefabricated building. Working extensively throughout the Hudson Valley we have created shed pads for personal and commercial use. We have been recommended by and have worked in conjunction with Barnraiser of Highland NY and Brad's Barns of Kingston NY.

TRAIL BUILDING
We have been fortunate to partner with many organizations and businesses throughout the Hudson Valley area to establish and maintain trails and forest pathways. Some of our projects include new trails at Granite Mountain Putnam County NY, The Milton Stairs at the Milton Landing Park, Milton NY, Long Pond Ironworks West Milford NJ, Lenape Stairs at Sam’s Point State Park, Cragsmoor NY, Trail Bridge at Fahnstock State Park Phillipstown NY and the Appalachian Trail Relocation at Bear Mountain Park, Harriman NY.

HARDSCAPING
The art of landscaping with natural or manufactured stone, rocks and boulders is one our specialities. Retaining walls large and small, walkways, stone accents, tables and seats can be created using local stone from your property or we can harvest stone and bring it to your project. Permeable pavers can be used to create paths and patios while alleviating ponding water and creating level useable spaces. Whether we are using fabricated stone or natural stone that is split and shaped by hand, we can create a practical and sustainable outdoor space that meet your needs.

BLACK ROCK FOREST
Spring 2016 we were contracted by Tahawus Trails, LLC to create an accessible trail through the rugged terrain of Black Rock Forest in Cornwall, NY. This project required an incline of less that 8% with extensive crib walls and a crushed stone surface. Our ability to be selective and our low impact excavation techniques allowed for a finished width of 8 feet with minimal scarring or disturbance to the landscape. This project continued for a second year building higher crib-walls pinned to bedrock to provide a barrier free trail for the needs of all hikers and visitors.
